About AMPLIFY Girls

AMPLIFY Girls is a dynamic network of African organizations creating a world where adolescent girls have both the agency and the opportunities to effect change. We do this by strengthening the community-driven organizations that know girls best, generating evidence from community-led interventions, and building movements focused on lasting systems-level change.

Role Overview

AMPLIFY Girls is set to launch its Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, embracing a refined identity as an organization dedicated to strengthening the capacity of community-driven organizations (CDOs) and supporting them in demonstrating the effectiveness of their work through the groundbreaking Adolescent Girls Agency Survey. AMPLIFY Girls aims to close the loop on girls’ agency by working with its partners and allies to improve environments and make them more conducive to the exercise of girls’ agency. As part of this vision, the organization will implement community-based systems change interventions in collaboration with its partners, alongside far-reaching advocacy efforts at the global, regional, and national levels.

We seek a passionate and collaborative advocacy leader who is deeply networked and committed to advancing the rights and agency of girls, while championing localization and community-driven development.

The Head of Advocacy will be based in Kenya and will spearhead all advocacy and systems-level engagements within the AMPLIFY Girls network. This individual will play a pivotal role in movement building, leading impactful campaigns, and implementing systems-change interventions at the community level. Working closely with the Africa Co-CEO, the Head of Advocacy will represent AMPLIFY Girls in key advocacy spaces, foster strategic partnerships, and strengthen the advocacy capacity of network partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership and Vision

  •  Lead the development and implementation of AMPLIFY Girls’ global and regional advocacy strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and vision.

  • Monitor global, regional, and local trends to identify opportunities and risks for advocacy and systems change.

  • Articulate and promote AMPLIFY Girls’ programmatic vision on girls’ agency and the resourcing of CDOs to external audiences.

  • Represent AMPLIFY Girls in high-level advocacy spaces, including global forums, policy discussions, and funder convenings.

2. Policy Development and Analysis

  • Lead the development of evidence-based policy positions, white papers, and policy briefs to advance AMPLIFY Girls’ advocacy agenda.

  • Conduct and oversee research to inform advocacy campaigns and policy recommendations.

  • Ensure alignment between global, regional, and country-level policy priorities, with a focus on community-driven development and localization.

3. Designing and Leading Community-Based Systems Change Initiatives

  • Design and implement scalable, community-based systems change initiatives to address barriers to girls’ agency in collaboration with network partners.

  • Identify and develop priority systems change models that can be replicated across AMPLIFY Girls’ countries of operation.

  • Lead strategic engagements with partners to influence policy and systems change at community, national, and regional levels.

  • Ensure that systems change initiatives are co-designed with partners and communities, with a focus on sustainability and scalability.

4. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with governments, multilateral organizations, donors, civil society organizations, and private sector actors.

  • Develop strategic partnerships with advocacy networks, funders, and policymakers to advance AMPLIFY Girls’ mission.

  • Facilitate collaboration among network members, partners, and stakeholders to amplify the organization’s collective voice and influence.

  • Collaborate with the Co-CEOs to engage funders and foster a community of supporters committed to advancing localization and strengthening community-driven organizations (CDOs) within the AMPLIFY Girls network.

5. Advocacy Campaigns, Movement Building, and Public Engagement

  • Lead the design and implementation of impactful advocacy campaigns by AMPLIFY Girls and its network partners.

  • Develop a clear movement-building strategy to drive collective action and collaboration within the AMPLIFY Girls network.

  • In collaboration with the Head of Research, leverage insights from the Community of Practice and Action to inform AMPLIFY Girls’ advocacy efforts, driving the wider adoption of the Adolescent Girls Agency Survey (AGAS) as a critical measurement tool for girls’ agency programs and promoting its uptake among diverse stakeholders.

  • Strengthen and relaunch the AMPLIFY Girls Fellowship program to support girls from the network to apply their skills, amplify their voices, and inspire positive change within their families and communities.

  • Drive cross-movement collaboration with other stakeholders to amplify advocacy efforts and achieve shared goals.

6. Capacity Strengthening, Technical Support, and Thought Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Head of Partner Learning to strengthen the capacity of network partners in advocacy.

  • Provide technical support and mentorship to partners on advocacy strategies, tools, and implementation.

  • Work closely with the Co-CEOs to strengthen AMPLIFY Girls’ thought leadership in the girls’ agency and community-driven organization (CDO) empowerment space by publishing thought pieces, blogs, and articles to influence broader debates and position the organization as a leader in these areas.

7. Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to at least one direct report, ensuring alignment with AMPLIFY Girls’ advocacy goals and priorities.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and shared ownership of advocacy outcomes.

  • Ensure effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities to support the successful implementation of advocacy and systems change initiatives.
